WHAT IS
PARKOUR?
FUN | SAFETY | LEARNING
Parkour is characterized by the efficient use of power, speed, agility, spatial awareness, balance, reflexes and thinking in the moment in order to overcome obstacles within one’s environment. Parkour classes help participants develop and/or expand these abilities in their everyday movements. Most importantly, MoveFree Academy’s emphasis is on how to safely develop and use these skills to minimize the probability of injury.

ABOUT US
Movefree Academy was established in 2013 with the sole purpose of helping youth discover health and well being through functional movement. Every week our gym is reconfigured for new and exciting obstacle courses, climbing routes, and unique team-based games. Our classes provide an outstanding alternative to traditional sports by developing individual fitness and movement capacity in a less competitive space.
The MoveFree Academy philosophy, methods and teaching techniques also help students in the following ways:
Physically – Our curriculum revolves around learning sustainable lifelong movement. Students will see improvement in coordination, power, speed, agility, balance, and reflexes. They will become more aware of themselves and their environment, and through this enhanced spatial awareness the student learns how their body can engage with and move through their environment.
Mentally and Emotionally – It will help build their confidence and self-esteem as they gain a feeling of empowerment and accomplishment in overcoming obstacles – an analogy for their life. The program helps students develop creativity, out of the box thinking, and problem solving by learning how to approach a challenge using their individual strengths in the most efficient way.
Socially – They will learn how to work with fellow students while appreciating and acknowledging the abilities and strengths of others. The MoveFree trainings emphasize the importance of dedication, discipline, a spirit of community and mutual support as students are encouraged to help one another succeed. Teamwork and camaraderie built from non-competitive, shared experience, encourages each student to set and achieve their own personal goals, in their own unique style, and recognize their own personal strengths.
